Catalytic Combustion Equipment
Catalytic Combustion Equipment is used to treat combustible organic compounds in exhaust gas through catalytic oxidation. The process promotes the reaction between organic pollutants and oxygen at a temperature lower than that normally required for direct thermal combustion.
The equipment generally includes a gas inlet, preheating section, catalytic reactor, catalyst bed, heat exchange components, exhaust outlet, and temperature control system. Contaminated gas is first brought to the required reaction temperature and then passes through the catalyst layer, where oxidation of suitable organic compounds takes place.
Catalysts provide active surfaces that facilitate the oxidation reaction. Catalyst composition and structure can be selected according to the target compounds, gas concentration, operating temperature, and presence of substances that may affect catalyst activity.
Heat exchangers can be incorporated to recover heat from the treated gas and transfer it to the incoming exhaust stream. This reduces the amount of external heating required after the system reaches stable operating conditions.
Operating parameters include gas flow rate, inlet concentration, reaction temperature, residence time, oxygen content, and catalyst condition. Pretreatment such as filtration or adsorption may be required when the exhaust contains dust, oil mist, or other substances that could interfere with the catalyst.
