VOC Activated Carbon Adsorber
VOC Activated Carbon Adsorber
VOC Activated Carbon Adsorber is a gas treatment unit that uses activated carbon as the adsorption medium to remove volatile organic compounds from industrial exhaust air. The porous carbon material provides a large internal surface area where VOC molecules can be retained as contaminated gas passes through the adsorption bed.
The adsorber generally consists of a sealed housing, activated carbon layer, air distribution section, inspection access, and inlet and outlet connections. Contaminated gas enters the housing and is distributed through the activated carbon bed. VOC molecules are captured by the carbon surface, while the treated air exits through the downstream outlet.
Activated carbon type and filling configuration can be selected according to the characteristics of the target VOC compounds. Important operating factors include gas concentration, airflow volume, temperature, humidity, contact time, and the adsorption capacity of the carbon media.
During operation, the activated carbon gradually becomes saturated with adsorbed compounds. Depending on the equipment configuration and VOC characteristics, the carbon can be replaced or sent through a regeneration process. Differential pressure and operating conditions can be monitored to determine whether the adsorption bed requires maintenance or media replacement.
The adsorber can be arranged as a single unit or multiple adsorption chambers operating alternately. Multiple chambers allow one adsorption bed to remain in service while another is being replaced or regenerated.
