Rotary Airlock Feeder

Rotary Airlock Feeder is a mechanical feeding device used to transfer powdered and granular materials at a controlled rate from one section of a process system to another. Its rotating pocket structure receives material from the upper inlet and releases it through the lower outlet as the rotor turns.

The feeder consists of a cylindrical housing, rotor, shaft, end covers, bearings, seals, and drive unit. Multiple pockets are formed around the rotor circumference. During operation, each pocket fills as it passes beneath the inlet, carries the material through the housing, and empties at the discharge position.

The feeding rate can be influenced by rotor volume, pocket number, rotational speed, material bulk density, and filling characteristics. Variable-speed drive configurations can be used when the material flow needs to be adjusted according to the requirements of the downstream process.

Rotary Airlock Feeders are also used at the interface between storage or collection equipment and pneumatic conveying lines. The rotating rotor provides a controlled material transfer point while limiting direct airflow between connected process sections.
