Slide Gate Valve

Slide Gate Valve is a linear movement device used to open or close a material discharge passage in bulk handling equipment. A flat gate plate moves within a guide frame and changes the opening through which dry materials are discharged.

The valve is often positioned at the bottom of hoppers, storage bins, silos, chutes, and dust collection units. It can remain fully open during normal material discharge or move across the outlet to stop the flow when the downstream equipment needs to be isolated.

The gate plate is supported by guide rails or sliding surfaces to maintain its position during movement. Depending on the equipment arrangement, the valve can be operated manually or equipped with a pneumatic or electric drive for remote control.

Construction details vary according to the material being handled. For fine powders, the sealing arrangement can be designed to limit dust escape around the gate. For abrasive materials, the gate and guide surfaces can use suitable wear-resistant materials.

The valve opening, body dimensions, connection type, gate thickness, and operating mechanism are selected according to the discharge capacity and installation requirements. It can be incorporated into conveying, storage, dosing, and dust collection processes.
