Demister Pad / Demister Packing

Demister Pad / Demister Packing is a gas-liquid separation medium installed inside process vessels and gas treatment equipment. It is used to reduce the amount of liquid carried with a gas stream by promoting the collection and separation of entrained droplets.

The packing is assembled into a porous structure that provides repeated contact between the flowing gas and the separation medium. As droplets move with the gas, they are captured within the packing and gradually combine into larger liquid masses. The separated liquid then drains downward and is collected within the vessel.

The structure can be produced from knitted wire mesh or other suitable materials. Stainless steel, metal alloys, plastic, and other materials can be selected according to temperature, chemical exposure, liquid composition, and corrosion requirements.

Demister Pad / Demister Packing can be manufactured in different thicknesses, densities, wire diameters, and shapes. Circular pads are commonly used in towers and vessels with round cross-sections, while rectangular or segmented sections can be arranged for larger equipment.

A support grid and retaining structure are normally used to secure the packing in the vessel. The design should consider gas velocity, liquid loading, droplet size, pressure drop, vessel diameter, and available installation space.
