Knitted Wire Mesh Demister
Knitted Wire Mesh Demister is a gas-liquid separation component made from continuously knitted wire mesh. The interlocking wire structure creates a large number of contact points along the gas passage, allowing entrained liquid droplets to collide with the wire and combine during gas flow.
As the gas moves through the mesh, liquid droplets are intercepted by the wire surfaces. Smaller droplets gradually coalesce into larger droplets, which then move downward under gravity. This process separates liquid from the gas before the gas leaves the vessel or enters the next treatment stage.
The mesh can be manufactured from stainless steel, carbon steel, plastic, or other materials suitable for the operating environment. Material selection depends on temperature, chemical composition, corrosion conditions, and the properties of the liquid being separated.
Demister construction can be adjusted through wire diameter, mesh density, pad thickness, mesh height, and overall shape. Round, rectangular, and customized geometries can be used to fit different tower or vessel interiors.
A supporting grid is normally installed to hold the mesh pad in position and prevent movement caused by gas velocity or pressure fluctuations. Proper sizing requires consideration of gas flow rate, liquid loading, droplet size, pressure drop, and vessel dimensions.
